Our Team
Anouk
Hometown: Born in Maniwaki Quebec, but raised on Southern Vancouver Island.
Current Shoe: Innov8's Trail Talon started me on my running journey, so I am stoked that we offer them.
Fav Route: Seal Bay is lovely no matter the weather, and great when some of the other local routes are mud pits in the winter.
Dream event: As a lover of AcroYoga, my favorite annual event is the Vancouver Acro Festival- picture creative acrobatic classes stretched over the course of three days! I would also love to make it to the Progressive Partner Acrobatics training camp in North Carolina some day. Running in the sunshine brings me joy and keeps my cardio strong for the other fun parts of my life!
Caitlin
Hometown: Born in Nanaimo hospital but grew up in Errington, BC
Current shoe: Inov 8 Trail Talon for trails and excited to see what is coming this Spring! Also wearing Saucony Endorphin Speed on the road
Fav route:one of my favourite routes is a trail along the river in Errington. In Cumberland some of the trails I love are Amore, THC, Steam Donkey and Bronco's perseverance.
Dream Event: I would love to do a destination race somewhere like Italy or France or like a hut to hut run through the mountains in Europe.
Derek
Hometown: Born in Kitchener, ON, but consider Victoria, BC my hometown
Current Shoe: OMG - I try A LOT of shoes! I wear a lot of different brands and styles because there are so many great options out there. What's important to me is that I match the features to the intended purpose, added with a little colour preference and sometimes a hint of sentimental value (I have some that should have been retired long ago!).
Fav Route: DCDH + Miners in Cumberland for hill repeats and Sobo No Michi as a steady threshold workout. Albert Ed for an adventure day. Comox cruises with the Run to Beer Crew is always a good time.
Dream Event: Anything staged. I'm a sucker for back-to-back races, ideally different efforts/distances for full experience. I prefer more elevation over runnable terrain. Would love to spend more time adventuring abroad.
Kim C
Hometown: Born in San Diego, CA, but Alaska is my home in my heart.
Current Shoe: Altra FWD Experience, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 & Peregrine 13
Fav Route: Ah, loaded question... Blasting any long, flowy downhill (ex. Broadway, Bear Buns) in Cumberland. 400s at the Vanier track when I'm feeling speedy. My favorite long run route memories are on the "tour of anchorage trail" in Alaska with my cross country teammates. In the winter, the packed, groomed snow is heavenly and the local bear/mosquito population keeps you on your toes in the summer. I love me a good ol' SoCal strand run as well; typically pier to pier.
Dream event: a long form, rugged beer mile... So essentially a short and sweet trail 'race' that requires participants to finish a beer at each checkpoint before advancing. More realistically, a trail relay that incorporates different length/terrain legs with good friends!
Lance
Hometown: Born in Cumberland BC and back in the Comox Valley after years in Montreal, Dawson City, Vancouver and New Mexico.
Current Shoe: Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, Scarpa Golden Gate ATR, Craft Nordic Speed 2
Fav Route: Trails: Upper Puntledge rolling paths; Roads: as a compulsive heatmapper, a new route every time!
Dream Event: Lake Windemere Aquathlon, Valenica Marathon, Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim
Kim H
Hometown: Port Moody, BC
Current Shoe: Norda 001 for trails and Saucony Ride 18 for road runs and walks.
Fav Route: I love the entire Eastern Block network in Cumberland, and if ever on the road then running to Comox Lake is nice!
Dream Event: Edge to Edge Half Marathon in Ucluelet and any Enduro races on my mountain bike.
Jess
Hometown: Born in Calgary, AB, raised on Vancouver Island.
Current Shoe: I love exploring and trying new designs to keep my feet happy, whether I'm hitting trails or pounding the pavement. La Sportiva (currently Bushido) is my go-to for trails, and Saucony (currently Endorphin Speed 5) for the road. For work and everyday wear, I love my Altras. I'm a big fan of zero-drop shoes.
Fav Route: Anywhere in Cumberland Woods or Mt. Washington! For easier days and routine runs, I enjoy Seal Bay. If I hike a trail, I'll definitely try to run it next time—trail running is my jam.
Dream Event: The Grizzly Ultra and Squamish 50/50. Ultras are my main goal, and I'm looking forward to crushing the Devil's Ladder 50km next year!
Samara
Hometown: I grew up in Fort Langley on the mainland, and moved to the island for school in 2018- haven’t wanted to leave!
Current Shoe: I mainly run in the Norda 001A’s or the Topo mountain racer for trails.
Fav Route: I love running the Cumberland community forest trails. My all time route is Fuji Jim, down rapture! I love the whole eastern block area.
Dream event: Maybe the Minotaur sky race, or any other pretty alpine route!
Sarah
Hometown: Clarington, Ontario
Current Shoe: I love the Saucony Endorphin Pro for my speedy road sessions and race day and Brooks Glycerin GTS for my everyday trainer. I am excited to try the Norda 005 for trails!
Fav Route: Anything somewhat flat and fast on the road. I loved running through the countryside back home!
Dream Event: I'd love to run anything in another country especially the Berlin Marathon and Ironman 70.3 Versailles!
What Customer Say About Us
"Great customer service! My partner and I came in looking for advice about trail running shoes, and the representative (I am so sorry I forgot your name!) was so knowledgeable, kind, and patient as we hemmed and hawed about fit, style, colour. We walked out with two pairs of runners and are very happy with our purchase. Thank you!"
