Kahtoola Size Chart

This is our Kahtoola size guide for the INSTAgaiter, RENAgaiter and LEVAgaiter GTX gaiters. Kahtoola sizes its gaiters by your shoe size, and the gaiter hugs the shape of your shoe or boot. Find your US shoe size on the chart for your gaiter. If your size falls on the line between two gaiter sizes, try both on with your shoes. Every foot is different, so it's always best to get fitted at your local running store.

How to choose your size

  1. Pick the gaiter that matches your footwear height. Low gaiters suit low-cut footwear like trail running and hiking shoes.
  2. Find your usual US shoe size in the chart for that gaiter.
  3. For the LEVAgaiter GTX, use the shoe chart if you'll wear it on shoes and the boot chart if you'll wear it on boots.
  4. No measuring needed: Kahtoola sizes gaiters by footwear size.

Low vs mid gaiter heights

Kahtoola gaiters come in low and mid heights. Low gaiters, like the INSTAgaiter Low and RENAgaiter Low we carry, sit just above the shoe collar for trail running. Mid gaiters, like the LEVAgaiter GTX Mid, cover more of the lower leg for snow, scree and deeper debris. In each photo, the taller gaiter is the mid and the shorter one is the low.

Fit tips

  • Match your tallest footwear: if you wear the gaiter with more than one pair, size it for the tallest.
  • Shoe sizes that overlap: some sizes sit in two rows (for example, a men's 10 is in both S/M and L/XL). Kahtoola doesn't say which way to go, so try both on with your shoes.
  • Adjustable instep strap: the LEVAgaiter strap adjusts to different footwear sizes and shapes, and can be replaced if needed.
  • Waterproof footwear: the LEVAgaiter GTX is made for waterproof footwear like GORE-TEX hiking shoes or boots.

These charts are a guide, not an exact fit. Sizing can vary between gaiters and with the shoes you wear them on.

Kahtoola Sizing FAQ

What size Kahtoola gaiter do I need?

Go by your shoe size. For the INSTAgaiter and RENAgaiter, S/M fits men's 6–10 and women's 7–11, and L/XL fits men's 10–13 and women's 11+. XS fits women's 5–7.

What size gaiter for a men's 10?

A men's 10 sits in both S/M and L/XL for the INSTAgaiter and RENAgaiter, and in L/XL for the LEVAgaiter GTX on shoes. Try both if you can.

Do I need a different size for boots?

For the LEVAgaiter GTX, yes: Kahtoola has a separate boot chart. The INSTAgaiter and RENAgaiter are low gaiters for low-cut shoes.

Will Kahtoola gaiters fit my trail running shoes?

Yes. Kahtoola's low gaiters are made to fit low-cut footwear like trail running and hiking shoes.
